It’s a free online learning tool that aims to broaden kids’ world views through meaningful interactions with peers. By the end of 2020, Empatico endeavors to reach more than one million students and eventually make it possible for kids everywhere to connect with one another. Teachers of 6-11-year-old students can sign up and start connecting their classroom to the world today! Learn more at Empatico.org.
In partnership with Making Caring Common, a project of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, we have hosted two KIND Schools Challenges, a program designed to empower middle- and high-school students to build kinder, more inclusive communities. By providing funding and mentorship, the Challenge gives enterprising students a hands-on opportunity to directly impact the way their peers treat one another – inside and outside of school. To learn more about the 2018 program, visit here. The 2018 winning project, ELL Give Back Program, comes from Medford High School in Medford, Massachusetts. A dynamic team of 11th graders and their student advisor brought their school together by offering a way for new English Language Learner (ELL) students to navigate their community. The KIND Foundation believes that connecting people with diverse perspectives is one step towards building a kinder, more inclusive world. With this in mind, we created Pop Your Bubble – a social media experiment to connect people and allow them to explore other points of view, hopefully discovering we are all more alike than we are different. Our tool analyzed users’ Facebook profiles – age, gender, location, likes, and shares – to find people who could diversify their feeds and pop their bubbles. In just one year, the tool helped foster over 65,000 “unlikely” connections, exposing people to new voices, perspectives, and ways of life – all with just a few clicks! Although our experiment has ended, there are still many ways for you to continue to pop your bubble. Get inspired here.
This program celebrates people who have gone out of their way to help others in need. A KIND Person is someone who has performed an extraordinary act of kindness or demonstrated a selfless commitment to others. Through this program, we look to recognize individuals who have acted with humanity to impact another person’s life or an entire community—making our world a better place. To celebrate the most exemplary nominees and help them on their journey, we awarded over $1 million to 7 KIND People award recipients. Check out their incredible stories in the video below and learn more here. Thank you to our phenomenal judges who helped us to select the 2016 KIND People award recipients. The judges were:
Until November 2017, KIND Causes served as a grant giving vehicle to further the work of those making the world a little kinder. First under KIND Snacks and then, starting in October 2016, through The KIND Foundation, KIND Causes donated more than $450,000 to fuel socially impactful ideas. Each of these Causes were selected by our community – by committing to perform a kind act in their own life, supporters registered a vote for their favorite Cause. On November 17th, 2016, The KIND Foundation hosted an educational Entrepreneurship Summit for aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs focused on building businesses that will have a positive social impact. As a part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Summit focused on propelling the next generation of successful and responsible businesses through a day of learning, conversation, and connection. Nearly 300 entrepreneurs participated in the Summit, both in-person and online, through a range of educational workshops, lectures, and one-one-one sessions.
To bring this experience to life, The KIND Foundation partnered with Venture for America, a nonprofit Fellowship program that empowers young people to revitalize American communities through entrepreneurship. Noteworthy business and thought leaders joined to speak with Summit participants. Featured speakers included Daniel Lubetzky, President, The KIND Foundation and Founder & CEO, KIND; Jeff Raider, Co-Founder & Co-CEO, Harry’s; Rhys Powell, President & Founder, Red Rabbit; and Arianna Huffington, Founder, Thrive Global. KIND also provided support for the Summit by shutting its doors and mobilizing team members across every department – from marketing and communications to operations and customer service – as part of the company’s day of service.
